Ammonia (Gas) Flow Meters

Option N — Brass-Free 316SS Construction for Ammonia Service

RCM Flo-Gage Ammonia Gas Flow Meter

Important: Standard RCM meters contain brass components that react with ammonia. Option N provides a fully brass-free 316 Stainless Steel construction required for safe ammonia service.

The Flo-Gage™ Ammonia Gas Flow Meter is built on the rugged 7000/8000 Series platform with a sturdy in-line 316 Stainless Steel body (brass free), EPR seals, and a gasketed case — all designed to handle the harsh corrosive nature of ammonia. The differential pressure principle provides reliable, repeatable measurement across a 6:1 turndown range from ¼″ to 8″ pipe sizes.

Features & Benefits

3.5″ (90 mm) 270° analog dial for at-a-glance reading
Suitable for use with opaque and clear fluids
Measures 6:1 range with ±3% F.S. accuracy
Dial and case factory configured for quick installation
Easily field re-configured if needed
Gas flow ranges from 40 SCFH (1 Nm³/h) in ½″ up to 20,000 SCFM (60,000 Nm³/h) in 8″
Brass-free 316 Stainless Steel construction throughout
EPR seals rated for ammonia service
Gasketed case standard

Typical Applications

Fertilization process
Manufacturing of plastics, textiles, and pesticides
Refining process (neutralizing crude oil acid)
Industrial refrigeration

Principle of Operation

The differential pressure flow meter operates on the principle that pressure drop across the meter is proportional to the square of the flow rate. The flow rate is obtained by:

  • Measuring the differential pressure across the meter
  • Extracting the square root to derive the linear flow rate
